Thanks Cara for reminding me I have a blog and I could post some of the birthday fun I had yesterday. I took the day off and went downtown with 3 gringa friends, Lindsey, Lindsay, and Rachel. We ate lunch, (unfortunately, it was not good food.) But we had a good time.

Then, we left to head to Starbucks, but stopped at Cerro Santa Lucia (Santa Lucia Hill) which is a historic point of interest in the city. It is a beautiful park. With lots of shade. We did some goofing off while relaxing from the sun.

I posed with this general. It looks a bit like a tourist, but hey, sometimes I can be one.

The Starbucks at Santa Lucia is located next to an office building with revolving doors. The girls told me I had to go around 28 times, one for each year. I decided I'd pretend I was 8, because a number of business people were entering and leaving, and it was a bit embarrassing.

It was so HOT while we rode the bus home, that we decided to put our feet in the pool when we got back. Two Chilean friends had arrived and were waiting at the gate of our building when we got there.

We ended up in the pool in our clothes, as some got pushed in, and others of us jumped voluntarily.

Some decided to go for the bellyflop...

And everyone chose the cannonball!

It was a pleasant day, full of fun and memories. Although I missed my family and many others tremendously, I am grateful I did not feel alone. The last visitors who came left just after 11 PM. It was a long day.
