El Concierto

Today, I was invited by a friend to a piano concert. Some of you may not know that I played the piano, and enjoy piano music immensely. (Right now, I am listening to solopianoradio.com, which I highly recommend to any of you who also like piano music.)

The concert was in the home of my friend's piano teacher. She lives in a very different part of town than I do. Uptown. She has three, yes three, grand pianos in her home. One downstairs and two upstairs. There were about 25 of us crammed into her upstairs room where 6 or 7 of her students and finally she at the end in a duet with a student played various pieces. It was absolutely lovely. I wish I excelled at classical music. I love it, but I never had the knack for it, or the discipline to practice that much.

I don't have any pictures of it. But I am so thankful that God has given us the ability to create music.

Birthday Fun

Thanks Cara for reminding me I have a blog and I could post some of the birthday fun I had yesterday. I took the day off and went downtown with 3 gringa friends, Lindsey, Lindsay, and Rachel. We ate lunch, (unfortunately, it was not good food.) But we had a good time.

Then, we left to head to Starbucks, but stopped at Cerro Santa Lucia (Santa Lucia Hill) which is a historic point of interest in the city. It is a beautiful park. With lots of shade. We did some goofing off while relaxing from the sun.

I posed with this general. It looks a bit like a tourist, but hey, sometimes I can be one. The Starbucks at Santa Lucia is located next to an office building with revolving doors. The girls told me I had to go around 28 times, one for each year. I decided I'd pretend I was 8, because a number of business people were entering and leaving, and it was a bit embarrassing.

It was so HOT while we rode the bus home, that we decided to put our feet in the pool when we got back. Two Chilean friends had arrived and were waiting at the gate of our building when we got there.

We ended up in the pool in our clothes, as some got pushed in, and others of us jumped voluntarily.

Some decided to go for the bellyflop...

And everyone chose the cannonball!

It was a pleasant day, full of fun and memories. Although I missed my family and many others tremendously, I am grateful I did not feel alone. The last visitors who came left just after 11 PM. It was a long day.

Peru Revisited

It's been difficult to adjust to being back from Tacna, Peru. It was a tremendous return visit. The translation work was exhausting, but well worth it. I have come to realize I wouldn't want to exhaust myself for anything but serving Him.

The ecological project is tremendous. I was able to see a shipment of new trees comes in.

I got to lie in the grass with Marisol, Lisbet, and Ivan...it's incredible the desert park!

I enjoyed fun times with old friends. Sheyla amazed me, how much she has developed in loving her Lord. We spent a lot of time together.

I got to meet Luzmila, my friend Yvan's mom, who we've been praying for for years.

I finally got some pictures with the Arch in Tacna's Plaza de Armas, but unfortunately, none of them turned out, because we went at night.

I am so grateful for the experience, the privilege to return. Many relationships are renewed by the short time I spent there, and I have had opportunities to invest in many young people since I've returned to Chile. I thank God for these opportunities.
