Today we travel together

It's flight day. We're so ready. I have realized that starting tonight, when we are at the airport, we will be together every day this next week, and on into the future. I love that idea. I think it's great. I know there will be days when we feel like we didn't see each other much, because of work, or meetings, or something else. But oh how I look forward to not saying Good Night. Many have told me that is a very common thing to say. Well, it makes sense.

Today I go pick up the dress, run a few errands, clean the house, do laundry, and I'll be picked up at 5 to go pick up Jonathan and his family at their house. We'll be at the airport by 7. We fly at 9. What a good day.

One more day

As I sit here eating breakfast, one day before we travel, I find myself reflecting on many things. Tonight will be my last night sleeping alone in this apartment. I have the same CD playing that I remember listening to just days before I moved to Chile. Listening to Jeremy Camp sing "I will trust in You," I find myself so grateful that the journey of trust is so amazing with our God. I am thankful for how He has caused me to trust Him each step.

Today is filled with activities, first thing, another dress fitting, then to work, where I'll help one of our workers who leaves on July 31 secure his computer and get a new email address. Tomorrow is a federal holiday so today is my last day of work. I have a few errands to run in the evening and tomorrow morning, some laundry I want to get done (so I'm glad it is supposed to be 18 degrees and sunny tomorrow. Hopefully it will dry before I depart.

I may go pick up the dress this evening or perhaps tomorrow. My bag is almost packed, just a few last minute items to throw in, some gifts I need to get still, and I hope the time flies by!

There will be a number of people with us at the airport, perhaps more than I am aware of. The send offs here in Chile are generally HUGE! :) I am excited that Jonathan's family will accompany us.

So thankful for the moments we are living, and those that are to come.

Preparations and Plane Rides.

Last night, Jonathan met me after I had browsed an uptown mall for an hour. It took me an hour to get there, and after an hour, I had had enough. We're still looking for the right clothes for our wedding days, and trying not to let the comments of others stress us out, as they express their expectations. Long ago, I threw tradition to the wind, and have been enjoying life ever since. So, it has been frustrating at times to listen to comments like, "You have to have this... you have to do that..."

I have two zits forming on my chin, which are only recent additions to my stress signs, including a now week-long canker sore that appears to have taken up residence on my tongue.

As Jonathan and I shared a Subway sandwich after he picked me up at the mall, we talked about the airplane flight. He has never flown before, and it was fun to see it through his eyes. I explained what will happen, what they will give him to sleep with, to eat, how security in the US will be (he'll have to strip off everything not essential in the metal detectors!)

Maybe I've mentioned this before here, but I will say it again. I am so thrilled that I no longer travel alone. That I already know who I will be sitting next to on the plane. How glorious! As I think back, the last time I flew accompanied long distance was in 2003, on my first visit to Chile with a team from Adventure. For six long years, I have travelled alone. And now, I am delighted that all of that begins to change.

Today, Jonathan and I are going to visit his father. I have only met him one time, for 15 brief minutes. I asked Jonathan if we should go before we travel and marry, and he said it would be a good idea. Jonathan has not seen his father in maybe six months or more. I pray for Omar often, that he would come to know the saving Love that has captured our lives. I am glad to be able to meet him, as that only helps me to pray for him more often.
